On Saturday, September 26, we will host “GREEN GREEN Barbecue from Kyotamba,” a special barbecue event featuring a farm harvest experience, exclusively for guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Kyotamba. This event was planned based on an idea proposed by students participating in the “Kuradashi Challenge (*1),” a social contribution internship program that Kuradashi Co., Ltd., Kyotanba Town in Kyoto Prefecture, and Sekisui House, Ltd. have been collaborating on since signing a partnership agreement in 2021, with the goals of reducing food waste and revitalizing the local community.

Students participating in the Kuradashi Challenge actually stayed in Kyotamba Town from June through July 2026, where they took part in harvesting activities at Noto Co., Ltd.’s fields and engaged in satoyama maintenance work. This event reflects the connection between agriculture and nature that the students experienced firsthand through these activities, as well as the daily challenges and appeal of being a farmer.

The event begins with a hands-on harvesting experience at the farm, where you’ll pick red corn and Fushimi Amanaga chili peppers. Enjoy tasting the produce right there to savor the freshness, sweetness, and aroma. While harvesting, you’ll also hear about the farmers’ passion for agriculture.

After the harvest experience, enjoy the special “GREEN GREEN BBQ from Kyotamba” event at “Michi-no-Eki Kyotamba Ajimu no Sato,” located next to the hotel. The menu features the bounty of the fields—including fragrantly grilled corn, juicy eggplant, and richly flavored Manganji chili peppers—as well as “Kyotamba Pork,” the brand pork that Tamba Town is proud to offer. At the venue, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with local producers and community members, allowing you to learn about the appeal of seasonal vegetables and recommended cooking methods.

Why not join an event where you can experience the bountiful blessings of Kyotamba with all five senses and discover the charm of Kyotamba for yourself?
