Michinoeki Aso

Kusasenrigahama

Aso Cuddly Dominion

Daikanbo

Daikanbo is a 935.9 m high mountain in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture. As the highest peak in the north outer rim of the Aso Caldera, it offers a commanding view of the caldera and its inner slopes, the Five Peaks of Aso which form the central cone, and the Kuju Mountain Range.

Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine

A mystical shrine that has garnered attention on social media as an "entrance to another world." The approach to the shrine is flanked by 97 stone lanterns, and a fantastic sight can be seen when the sunlight crawls across the green world of moss. Once you get through the main hall, you will approach Ugeto-iwa, a huge legend-rich rock with a 10 m-diameter hole in it. It is said that this shrine brings you blessings of victory and success in entrance examinations.

Minamiaso Railway

Due to passionate local support, the former Japan National Railways Takamori Line was reorganized into the third-sector company Minami Aso Railways (nicknamed "Nantetsu") in 1985. Locals use the public transport service for commuting and visiting the hospital. Since the railway line offers great scenery, the company has also been focusing on tourism. The sightseeing tram Yusuge has been running ever since the company's inception.

Yamabuki Spring

Yamabuki Suigen has been chosen as one of the 100 best waters in Kumamoto Prefecture. It is a quiet headspring surrounded by primeval forest that produces 30 tons of water every minute.
