Located in the town of Osafune, which has flourished as a production center of Japanese swords since the Kamakura period (1185-1333), the museum exhibits swords, mainly Bizen swords, which are rare in Japan. The museum has a swordsmith shop on the premises, where visitors can observe the various manufacturing processes of Japanese swords, such as traditional sword smithing, sword armoring, sword engraving, and sharpening.
