Gastronomy Experience Tour: Discover the Culture and Lifestyle of Minamiyamashiro Village

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Minamiyamashiro will collaborate with “Murabito Travel!” and “Sasurai Shokudo” to host a special “Murabito (Villager)” Experience Event for guests staying at the hotel. This event offers participants the opportunity to discover and engage with the unique culture and lifestyle of Minamiyamashiro Village in Kyoto Prefecture.

Located in Kyoto’s only village, Minamiyamashiro is renowned as one of the main production areas of premium Uji tea. Gentle slopes are adorned with beautiful tea fields — a symbol of “Kyoto, the Home of Tea.” The vivid green of the tea fields under the clear sky, the breeze that sweeps through the satoyama (rural landscape), and the calm rhythm of village life all reflect a rich culture shaped by both nature and human craftsmanship.

In this event, you’ll explore tea fields and a forest where log-grown shiitake mushrooms thrive, accompanied by local guides who know the village inside out. You’ll meet producers who treasure nature’s blessings and learn about their values and lifestyles.

The true charm of Minamiyamashiro lies in the harmony between people and nature — in its deeply rooted “fudo” (local climate and spirit). Join us for a journey that goes beyond scenic beauty to connect with the invisible richness of human stories and natural wisdom.
