Experience Retro Art in Gujo Hachiman! Food Sample Making Event

On Saturday, June 8th, we will be holding a food sample making event in collaboration with "Sample Kobo" in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture. In this event, Guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Gujo will tour the retro-style building and participate in the hands-on experience of making tempura and lettuce food samples.

Gujo Hachiman's historic streets hold national significance as an Important Preservation District of Historic Building by the government and is also famous as the birthplace of food samples. The building of “Sample Kobo" is a retro-style traditional Japanese house, exhibiting approximately 2,500 food samples, as well as home appliances and retro magazines. Join us to experience the unique culture of food samples and step into the nostalgic world Showa-era atmosphere at this opportunity, and embark on a quest to discover the unseen charms of Gujo Hachiman.

・Schedule 
15:00 Depart from hotel by bus
15:20 Arrive at parking lot and walk to the Sample- Kobo
Stroll through neighborhoods lined with traditional houses dating back to the Edo period
15:30 Tour inside the workshop and experience making food samples (1 each of tempura and lettuce)
16:30 Depart from Sample- Kobo, walk to the parking lot
16:40 Depart from parking lot by bus
17:00 Arrive at hotel
