Enjoy Hokkaido's Winter: Curling Experience Event Held - Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Minamifurano

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, a curling experience event will be held in collaboration with the NPO Donkoro Outdoor School for guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Hokkaido Minamifurano.

Winter in Hokkaido offers many ways to enjoy yourself. Among them, curling—often called “chess on ice”—can be enjoyable for beginners of all ages, especially for the sense of unity and strategic play it creates on the ice. During the event, instructors from Donkoro Outdoor School will guide you from proper stance and stone handling to the flow of the game. After the lecture, challenge yourself in a mini-game! The winning team will receive gifts featuring local specialties from each region of Japan, where Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Hotel is located. Participation fee: Over junior high school student 6,000 yen / Elementary school student 5,000 yen (tax included)

11:15 Photo session and tidying up

11:30 Depart from Sorachi River Sports Links by minibus

11:50 Arrive at hotel

Attire and What to bring:

*Warm, flexible clothing: Skiwear or down jacket

If not wearing skiwear, we recommend wearing over pants in addition to pants

*Be sure to bring a knit hat and gloves

*Skirts and tights alone are not permitted

*Hydration drinks (no vending machines on site) We recommend bringing hot beverages.
