Discover Mino's traditions! Craft your own Mino washi paper items—a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Mino
On Sunday, March 22, 2026, a Mino Washi paper-making workshop will be held for guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Mino. This event is a collaboration with Ishikawa Paper Goods Ltd., founded in 1902.
Mino washi is a traditional craft with over 1,300 years of history, passed down in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture. Most notably, “Honminoshi,” considered the pinnacle of washi production, was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014.
At this event, you'll experience making Mino washi paper crafts in a 270-year-old historic building located in the traditional townscape. Choose one item from a standing doll, brush holder, or washi paper plate, and under the guidance of Ishikawa Paper Goods staff, enjoy creating your very own Mino washi goods. You will also receive a Mino washi paper craft as a souvenir! Why not embark on a journey to discover Mino's traditions?
