Touch, Learn, and Discover! Aquarium Backyard Tour at Fairfield by Marriott Wakayama Kumano Kodo Susami

On Sunday August 2nd, Aquarium Backyard Tour will be held for guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Wakayama Kumano Kodo Susami in collaboration with the Susami Town Shrimp and Crab Aquarium.  

 

The Susami Town Shrimp and Crab Aquarium is located next to the hotel and features approximately 200 species of crustaceans, primarily shrimp and crabs. On this tour, you’ll get a close-up look at the behind-the-scenes operations of the aquarium in the back-of-the-house areas that are normally off-limits to the public. Guided by facility director Atsushi Hirai, you can enjoy a feeding experience while learning about the “Melita panda” and the “Melita pandina”—both featuring distinctive panda-patterned markings and on display for the first time anywhere in the world. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at the aquariums and learn about the daily care techniques used to maintain them. In addition, the facility offers a wealth of hands-on activities, allowing you to fully appreciate the charm of marine life.
